About Us

The African Child Welfare Foundation (ACWF) is a registered community-based organization in Tanzania (Certificate No. 4170, issued 19th May 2011) dedicated to addressing social challenges with a focus on African children as an entry point to wider community development. Founded by multidisciplinary professionals, ACWF works through research, advocacy, and voluntary participation to empower grassroots efforts, promote education, and create sustainable change. With its head office in Moshi and partnerships in Rombo and Arusha, ACWF collaborates with schools, children’s homes, and communities to improve learning, living conditions, and opportunities for vulnerable children. Guided by the belief that ignorance breeds poverty and misery, ACWF mobilizes volunteers and supporters—known as Friends of ACWF—to share knowledge, drive projects, and build a future of dignity, prosperity, and hope.

VISION

A community with socio-economic prosperity where every child and family thrives.

MISSION

To support grassroots efforts centered around African children as the gateway to addressing wider community issues. Our work is grounded in research, advocacy, and voluntary socio-economic participation.

ENG. BERNARD KAVISHE—ACWF Managing Director

Welcome to ACWF

Founded and officially incorporated in Tanzania on May 19, 2011 (Certificate No. 4170), the African Children’s Welfare Foundation (ACWF) is a community-based organization rooted in the belief that Africa’s children are the heart of long-term, sustainable change.
Our vision is clear: a world where children and their communities thrive—socially, economically, and with dignity.
At ACWF, we empower communities from the grassroots level, placing the well-being and potential of the African child at the center of everything we do. Through a unique blend of research, advocacy, and voluntary socio-economic engagement, we work to unlock local solutions to pressing challenges in child welfare, education, health, and women’s empowerment.
Our work is grounded in the communities of Moshi, Arusha, and Rombo, where we partner with schools, orphanages, and grassroots organizations to support impactful and sustainable development. Whether it’s improving school infrastructure, supporting vulnerable children, or hosting volunteers from around the world, our goal remains the same: to build stronger communities by investing in their children.
ACWF is powered by the commitment of volunteers, sponsors, researchers, and change-makers who believe in a better future for Africa’s children. We invite you to be part of this mission—as a donor, a volunteer, or simply as a Friend of ACWF.
Together, we can create a lasting impact—one child, one community at a time.

Testimonials

Volunteering with ACWF in Moshi was life-changing. I not only taught at Kibo Secondary School but also learned so much from the students and community. ACWF made me feel like family from day one.
