Volunteering and Homestay Opportunities in Moshi, Arusha, and Rombo Districts, Tanzania

We are excited to offer volunteer placements and homestay programs in Moshi, Arusha, and Rombo, with new opportunities now available in Dar es Salaam. These programs are part of ACWF’s initiatives to promote cultural exchange and community support.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering with ACWF is a meaningful and affordable way to explore Tanzania. It allows for a deeper, more immersive cultural experience and the opportunity to contribute directly to local communities. You’ll have the chance to enjoy both cultural and wildlife tourism, while your time, skills, and financial contributions directly benefit the communities you work with. Many volunteers become lifelong members of our “Friends of Africa, Friends of ACWF” family.

What We Offer

  1. Visa Assistance

We help you upgrade your tourist visa to a Class C work visa (valid for up to 6 months) or a CTA pass (valid for up to 2 months), depending on your length of stay.

Class C Visa: $550 USD (can be obtained locally or through a Tanzanian embassy)

CTA Pass: $225 USD

It’s usually easiest to enter Tanzania with a tourist visa (issued on arrival), then upgrade it with our assistance.

  1. Volunteer Placements

We organize work and training placements based on your interests and skills. Current opportunities include:

Mairiva Secondary School – Arusha

Kibo Secondary School – Moshi

Destiny Children’s Home (Orphanage) – Moshi

Kwangao Primary School – Rombo

ACWF Offices – Moshi and Rombo

Custom placements may also be arranged in Moshi, Arusha, Rombo, and, in special cases, elsewhere in Tanzania.

  1. Homestays

Experience daily life with a local family or in an ACWF-run hostel. Homestays include accommodation and all meals, and are available in Moshi, Arusha, and Rombo. We provide detailed information to help you choose the right setting, and changes can be made depending on availability.

While volunteering, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit and engage with other homes and projects.

Past Volunteer Experiences

Since 2013, we have welcomed volunteers from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany, who have worked in schools, orphanages, and hospitals in Moshi and Arusha. Many of these volunteers have built lasting connections and returned to visit or continue supporting their placements.

We will be sharing photos and stories from previous volunteers in our gallery section to give you a better understanding of what to expect.
